ABOUT MISHER FILMS
Kevin Misher is a veteran producer of feature films, scripted television dramas, podcasts, and documentaries through his Los Angeles-based production company, Misher Films, which he has led for over two decades.
Raised in Queens, New York, Misher earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Wharton School of Business. He began his entertainment career at HBO in New York, working as a financial analyst for then-CEO Michael Fuchs. Soon after, he moved to Los Angeles, starting in the mailroom at the ICM talent agency before transitioning to InterTalent. His eye for exceptional material caught the attention of legendary executive Mike Medavoy, who hired him as a creative executive at Tri-Star Pictures—directly from the mailroom.
Misher quickly rose through the ranks. During his six years at Tri-Star, he oversaw numerous productions, including Donnie Brasco (starring Al Pacino and Johnny Depp) and the sports classic Rudy.
In 1996, at just 33, Misher became President of Production at Universal Pictures. During his tenure, Universal experienced a period of exceptional success. Misher supervised the production of acclaimed features such as Out of Sight and Erin Brockovich, and launched four of the studio’s most lucrative franchises: The Fast and the Furious, Meet the Parents, The Mummy, and The Bourne Identity.
In 2001, Misher left Universal to found Misher Films. Since then, he has produced a wide array of films across genres, collaborating with A-list talent both in front of and behind the camera. Notable credits include:
-
The Scorpion King and Peter Berg’s The Rundown, both starring Dwayne Johnson
-
The Interpreter, directed by Sydney Pollack, starring Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn
-
Michael Mann’s Public Enemies, starring Johnny Depp and Christian Bale
-
Mirror Mirror, starring Julia Roberts
-
Stephen Merchant’s critically acclaimed Fighting with My Family, starring Florence Pugh and Dwayne Johnson
-
Clint Eastwood’s award-winning Richard Jewell (recognized by AFI and the National Board of Review)
In 2021, Amazon premiered Coming 2 America, Misher Films’ sequel to the classic comedy Coming to America, starring Eddie Murphy, to record-breaking viewership. That same year, Apple released Finch, starring Tom Hanks, which became the most-watched movie in Apple’s history.
In 2023, Misher Films and Netflix released You People, a genre-defying comedy about interracial families, created by Kenya Barris and Jonah Hill and starring Hill, Eddie Murphy, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
Also in 2023, Misher Films expanded beyond features, partnering with Audible and Michael Strahan to produce American Football, a podcast exploring the origins of the NFL. The company also collaborated with Amazon and EA Sports on the documentary series It’s In the Game: Madden NFL, chronicling the creation and ongoing drama behind the iconic video game franchise.
Looking ahead, Misher has announced an upcoming untitled comedy directed by Judd Apatow and starring Glen Powell. The film, about a country western star in free fall, is slated to begin production in early 2026 for Universal Pictures.
